On Saturday, you can safely get rid of medications you no longer need. The Durham Police Department, in partnership with the Drug Enforcement Administration, will be holding the National Take Back Initiative on Saturday, October 27, 2018 at four locations. The National Take Back Initiative allows people to safely and anonymously dispose of unused or expired over-the-counter and prescription medications. The program’s purpose is to educate the public on the dangers of pharmaceutical drug abuse and accidental poisonings as well as educate them on the responsible handling, security and destruction of prescription and over-the-counter medications
The National Take Back Initiative will be held from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. on October 27th at the following locations:
• Walgreens, 1812 Holloway Street
• CVS, 3573 Hillsborough Road
• Triangle Pharmacy/Ace Hardware, 1700 East NC Highway 54
• Walgreens, 6405 Fayetteville Road
• Walgreens, 1812 Holloway Street

Officers at these locations will supervise the collection and maintain security of any collected materials. The collected materials will be destroyed in a safe and environmentally friendly manner.
